A Simple ((Hug)) Empty Re: A Simple ((Hug))

Post by Elrick June 9th 2010, 12:13 pm

I thoroughly enjoyed the video Vanilla2, and how receptive people (generally!) are to…

The Warmth of Hugs!

It's wondrous what a hug can do,
A hug can cheer you when you're blue.
A hug can say "I love you so",
Or, "Gee, I hate to see you go".

A hug is, "Welcome back again"!
And, "Great to see you!" or
"Where have you been?"
A hug can soothe a small child's pain,
And bring a rainbow after rain.

The hug! There's just no doubt about it,
We scarcely could survive without it!
A hug delights and warms and charms,
It must be why God gave us arms!

Hugs are great for fathers and mothers,
Sweet for sisters, swell for brothers,
And chances are some favorite aunts
Love them more than potted plants!

Kittens crave them. Puppies love them.
Heads of state are not above them.
A hug can break the language barrier,
And make the dullest day seem merrier.

No need to fret about the store of them.
The more you give, the more there are of them.
So stretch those arms without delay,
And give someone a hug today!

Elrick, thank you, what lovely words to follow on the video, and all so very true. That is something I miss, but I do make up for it by everyday giving my two dogs never ending hugs, even my (dog) Petra's ashes box, I will never stop. A Simple ((Hug)) 665618

Wow Vanilla2, Neat Video, made me smile from deep inside. I had seen a similiar video from New York last year some time. And guess what I did a couple of months ago? There was a little festival going on here in Glendale, Arizona. I printed up a large sign that said "FREE HUG", and I walked for about 2 hours giving away hugs, It was sooo fun. Many people did avoid eye contact, and would even walk away from me, but once I got eye contact, I approached them with open arms and gave and got hugs (-: A group of Police Officers even called me to where they were at for a hug, I hugged them all! I picked out everyone that looked sad and insisted on giving them a hug. One lady thanked me for hugging her dad cause he needed it, then I said "group hug" and we all embraced. I plan to do that again.
Elrick, Lovely Poem, thank you for posting it.

You are right Vanilla2, My original intention was to give hugs and pass out my business cards to help promote my business, I did give a few cards out, but quickly realized most of the people were expecting a "catch" with the word "FREE", so then I stopped promoting and just gave out "Hugs" and Smiles (-:

That was a Beautiful Video Vanilla2

I tend to shy away from closeness with family members and friends, i need to open up more and embrace life, and give Hugs even when i don't want to, it will be a slow process, but after me and mom watched the Video i gave her a Hug right after which i rarely do, i feel much better for it and i'm sure it was a surprise for her as well. Thanks for sharing the Video i will never forget how Loving & Compassionate some can be, i could and will Learn from their Openness. Thank You so much Vanilla2 i Loved it.

Many Blessings

Hello Spirit-Being, to tell you the truth, it does not come naturally, I am really shy, I have to psych myself up to do those kind of things. I fear rejection. I just put on a happy face, and no one can See that my knees are shaking. I remember one lady in particular that rejected me, but I did not let her get to me. As I was approaching her with open arms, she told me "NO Offense, but no hug with the Swine flu going around!" I told her "I understand, I don't want it either!" and I just kept walking and doing my thing.
As far as hugging goes, I was not born into a huggy/kissy family. I learned it from one of my exes, his family was huggy/kissy. I make it a point, everytime I see my mom and dad to kiss them on the cheek, and I always tell them that I love them before I leave. Dad used to pull away at first, now he extends his cheek. Once dad even told me "I Love You too" that was priceless!
I did something over the weekend, that surprised me.
I saw an actor that I like this weekend. His name is Benjamin Bratt. I was admiring him from afar, when I saw that he was leaving, I yelled to him "Hey Bratt" he turned and looked at me, and I said "I have something for you!" he tilted his head, I then blew him a Kiss, he pretended to catch it and put it on his cheek. I giggled and blushed like a school girl, we both smiled as I floated away. Loves
I did not plan it, was a spur of the moment thing, and I am glad I did it.
So my advice to you, if you get the urge, just do it! If you don't get the urge, do it anyway!
with Love, your friend always, Linda (-:

Great Advice Linda, only way to overcome Fear is to Just do whatever it is that Fear is holding us back from, we could miss many great experiences because of Fear.

Spirit-being I too feel like I'm starting over, I have been ill in myself for quite some time, but for the last month I have never felt better, ( been under the doctor for high blood pressure) and this is how I want to stay, healthy, focused, and always with a amile on my face. I shan't go into detail, as we all want to keep positive on SJF, but Its my OH who has the problem, and made me feel so ill for so long. I too must keep calm, learn to breathe when stressed, do something positive, and say a mantra, "he is not going to make me ill again" over and over, I need to distance myself as much as I can. Wish someone could give me a free (( HUG )) Praying
