Natural Burial

I took my mum to one of her friends funeral on Monday.
When the coffin was brought in we were so surprised!
It was beautiful!
Made of wicker, a basket, pinky, creamy, white.
Oval, no square edges, like a baby's crib with a lid on it.
It looked so lovely, like it should do.

We didnt realise she was having a natural burial, didnt even know there was a place for it in our town.
It made us feel less sad, helped us accept she was going into the earth she loved, back to nature.
This lady loved the earth, flowers, trees etc.
It was so fitting for her.

Sounds wonderful, a perfect ending.

So strange as I too was talking about my own funeral arrangements this morning. Both with MATH, the ( Man About The House ) and the councillor, re: changing or updating our joint wills. Both myself and my daughter are now estranged, and she will assume I would want to be buried back where I used to live, as most of my family are. Yet MATH has now persuaded me to being cremated. And I now foresee problems if and when I go, on where I shall land up. So I had been discussing this subject as to making my own plans, and I want to look online to see what my choices are, and whats available.

I too would like my ashes to be scattered in a beutiful and calm place, but have yet to think of where exactly.

Mia, nowadays, there seems to be many choices, some even want to be buried in a cardboard box. I guess it really is up to us, although the line is drawn on some way out Ideas.

I have always wanted to be cremated.
No need for my family to feel they have to tend to a grave.
Leave the land for the living etc
I dont care what happens to my ashes cos I wont be joined to them anymore.
However, I like the idea of a natural burial now.
The plants, insects etc would be fed by my now vacant body.
I would be doing a last act of good for the earth.

Mia I think thats how its to be, the dead feeds the new life, or something like that.

Another thing that makes this all strange, is the fact at one time, I could never talk about this subject, death. Now hear I am, talking of making my own plans.

Mia you will be full of preservatives, wild life is not going to feed on you.

I am going to be cremated and my wife is going to keep me in an urn on the mantle, because she wants it that way. My only demand is that the lid has a lock on it so that my stepson doesn't accidentally knock it over and spill it. He is a bit clutsy and my wife would be very upset about a part me being in the vacuum cleaner bag.

I didnt think of that! re preservatives .... mmm, I shall have to look into that.

We took my dads ashes to Shropshire to Cardingmill Valley where he was brought up.
It was a wet and windy day when we scattered them
We left the valley wearing him! LOL
