One of my favorite calming thoughts is to realize that when God created the world, He decided then what I would need to experience in this lifetime - who I would marry, how many children I would have, who would love me and who would hate me, how much money I would have and what profession I would pursue. We can rant and rave all we want against what seems like an unfair "fate," but that will only make us miserable. It was all decided long ago. We couldn't have prevented or promoted a marriage which was meant to be, could not have prevented many accidents or mistakes from taking place or gotten more love and respect than God decided that we needed to get. All we can do is to avoid being bitter about what needed to happen and learn to accept God's will with humble obedience, trusting that this is what we needed to get. So when people abandon, disrespect or annoy us, it calms us to know that this event was arranged long before we had any say in the matter. We can stop worrying about whether we will marry, who our children will marry, what wars will take place and when or where we will die. It's already been decided. And this leaves us free to do whatever possible to bring more love into the world!

There's a lesson to be learned in every life we live,Stephen.

I often wonder how many lessons I have learned so far.

Quite a few,I hope.....Smile

The time of lessons are just about over and we are left with the choice of acceptance or non acceptance in what will be taught in the near future.

One must keep in mind that what you have said has been being said for over two thousand years now and that only God knows when this time that you speak of will come about. And Christian scripture indicates that the final judgement comes somewhat after the thousand year reign of Lord Jesus after He returns and He has not returned yet. So, those that are living on this planet during the time of the reign of Lord Jesus will have at least one thousand years to make up their mind about what will be taught, and seen as a living example, during that time, when it comes. Folks claim that they know when the time is coming (every generation has claimed that it is in their generation for the last two thousand years and today's generation is no different) but the truth is that nobody actually knows. And when it does happen, if Christian scripture is correct, everybody is still going to have one thousand years to make a decision.

Footnote: And please forgive me if I am off topic a bit, but if Christian scripture is correct then for the record I am inclined to think that the return of Lord Jesus is in the near future because the fundamentalist Islamic folk are on the move and they are the only ones that wish to destroy the country of Israel. At the same time if Christian scripture is correct there will be a hail from Heaven that will bring things to a screeching halt. Normally hail is considered frozen water and this hail that is dropped is suppose to weigh one hundred pounds (45.5 kg) a chunk. I suspect that one hundred pound (45.5 kg) chunks of ice dropped from 50 thousand feet would cool things off a bit. (I wonder how that would work for fighting forest firers?) Anyway, if Christian scripture is correct, we will have one thousand years to ponder the message that is taught after the return of Lord Jesus. It is after that one thousand years, if Christian scripture is correct, that making a decision is suppose to become critical. Until then we are all in a state of ignorance and are not held libel for the decisions that we make while in this state of ignorance, if Christian scripture is correct. john

I had a dream John a number of years ago that the man Jesus was here but no one recognised him for a number of hours until one person did recognise him.  My interpretation of that is everyone expects him to appear as he is portrayed with blue eyes and fair hair which is not going to happen because this time he is in a different body.  We have to remember also it is stated that he will come like a thief in the night so is it not possible he is already here

Scripture says that Jesus said that people will say that He is here and that He is there but that we are not to listen to them because when He does return everyone on this Earth will at the same time see His return. Like a thief in the night means that there will be no warning and that we are to be in a constant state of preparation. In other words keep your lamp filled and do not expect to have time to fill it because you hear that He is coming because He will come without any warning. Anyway that is only if you are a Christian and want a spot by His side. Everyone else will have a thousand years to figure out how they want to do things. The return of Jesus is a gift to most everybody whether they are a Christian or not. Satan is suppose to be locked up in a pit and it is shining times for humankind for one thousand years. The nasty stuff happens before Jesus returns and after the thousand years of His presence, not during His thousand year presence. Some Christians are running around warning everybody that Jesus is coming and that if they are not a Christian in good standing that they will be in trouble and be condemned to the fires of hell. That is just not true Smile, Christian scripture does not say that. As far as I am concerned, the gift of Jesus is the personal relationship that you can have with Him in this lifetime and the effect that that relationship has on you and those around you. Jesus never said that you have to be a Christian. What He said was that if you are not a Christian, then by your works you will be judged. And that if you are a "true" Christian, then by your works you "shall be known!" john
