A night with Gordon Goodwin's Bit Phat (Jazz) Band in Los Angeles Empty A night with Gordon Goodwin's Bit Phat (Jazz) Band in Los Angeles

Last week my grandson (14) mentioned that one of the leading if not the best Jazz bands in the country was playing in Los Angeles (Hollywood area) on Thursday night.
At an Italian dinner/entertainment night spot. I called and they encourage young music players to attend. My grandson is in a Jazz band in school and marching band.
Along with his rock bands he has.

Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band http://www.bigphatband.com/ (PHAT = sound like fat)
But it was a memorable night for my grandson.
We had a blast. I invited my daughter's father-in-law because I knew he would like it.

His high school music teacher is friends with the band.
In fact one of the Trumpet players came to judge my grandson's elementary music class a few years ago.

I will attach a photo of Gordon Goodwin playing the sax. He was also playing the keyboard that night.
Everyone in the band is fantastic, loved the drummer and the guitarist. They have a "back row" of trumpet players, one very famous. They call it "back row politics"
They are a great band and they through humor into the mix.

You can download a whole track free on their home page.

I took photos with my grandson with Gordon and the famous trumpet player but only with my grandson's Iphone which did not have a flash on it.
I forgot to replace my camera batteries so we did not get a good photo of the three of them.
The photo I will attach of Gordon my daughter's father-in-law took. His batteries on his phone were almost dead.

Tell us about yourself : I’m a widow; I lost my spouse April 16, 1999 to a broken heart and Cancer. He was a Native American. I have lived on his Reservation in California for 37 years. We were married 23 years. We had two children, lost one to a drunk driver in 97 before my spouse died. I started my spiritual journey when son passed; but woke up to spirituality abruptly June 2009 when I had an event reading by James Van Praagh and he brought through eight deceased relatives. I would love to be a medium in the future, and share that spiritual connection with those who have lost. I take photos of spirits in clouds. One of my favorite spirit photographs at night is an apparition of a Native American Male.

It was amazing. Still raving about it at work. Actually hoping to talk the the General Mgr to see if we can get this band in to play. I remember in about 1996-7 we had big bands play.
