Do You Work?

Post by mia on April 15th 2012, 6:10 am

As in paid work, not spiritual work.

I am a home carer.
I visit the elderly and/or disabled in their own homes, doing whatever is necessary for them to live there as long as possible.
Some need washing, dressing, food prepared etc.
Some are bedridden.
Some just want a chat.
I love my job Smile

Not for the last 10 years, no. But always did full time work, even as a single one parent family, bringing up daughter by myself, I worked full time. Even holding down several different jobs, all in one day. Guess now I am classed as fully retired, yet have contemplated the idea of working a few hours, for a little extra income.

Gosh yes!
I didn't work full time til my kids were old enough.
I did 3 jobs at one time for 18months.
I was lollipop lady from 8 til 9, then went to a factory from 10 til 2, back to lollipop from 3 til 4, home to cook dinner then a cleaning job 6 til 8 phew!
I don't know how I coped.

Then I worked full time in a factory for 17yrs til I left in 2002 for the job I do now.

Well i can't say i work but i do my best to give some of my time to others in need through distant healing, or just being there for support. I usually go where i am led. Working for pay that i don't do, i have not come across any job i would do for money yet. Sounds strange but i am truly picky when it comes to things like this. My gift is helping others from a distance right now. I have difficulty being close to others as i have been more introverted these past years since quiting the drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes. Baby steps is my approach, to integrating myself into the world to share what i have learned. It would be amazing if i could share Reiki hands on with people, but getting paid for doing so, i could not, maybe a donation or something for my time i might accept, like a small token of food, or anything someone would like to share with me. Thank goodness for my mother, or i might be homeless with very little connection to others.

There is satisfaction in doing a job and being paid for it. The satisfaction of working and earning ones keep, and knowing you have truly earned this money the hard way, instead of this money coming to you by an easy way. It also gives you independance in knowing how this money came about..
Gosh Spirit-being I feel like I am attacking you, but I'm not, Hugs just the feeling I got when I had done a hard slog and come home with my wage packet, as I once did.

No it's okay Vanilla i totally understand, i have worked in the past and gotten the paycheck, and it did feel quite good, like a reward for my hardwork. Maybe i have just gotten lazy, that could be a strong possibility. But each day is work in progress, i have many steps to take before i can find my place in this world. Your thoughts are much appreciated Thumb

I guess if someone gives you a wage packet, or you pay yourself a wage, if you are self employed or own your own business, then it is a job. But to define a job which gives one such pleasure, and like yours, is your hobby too, I would be inclined to answer, no, to the above question.
