These are two infusions I learn to use for health.

Oatstraw Infusion

To make a Oatstraw Herbal Infusion.....
1 oz Nettle approx 1 cup
• 1 qt. wide mouth canning jar, or saucepan with lid
• 1 oz oatstraw herb
• boiling water

2. Directions:
• Put 1 oz of oatstraw in a quart sized wide mouth canning jar
• Pour boiling water over herb
• Cap with lid
• Needs to sit 4 to 6 hours to pull minerals into solution
• Strain it out. Making it before you go to bed and straining in the morning is great and drink! It does not last long in ice box. Use before two days.

Oatstraw (Oats) • Avena sativa
Family: Graminaceae

What is Oatstraw?
An herb that is excellent to use for nourishment all year round no matter where you live.
Oatstraw is the very same plant as Oats, the grain you might make for breakfast. Avena sativa literally means "Cultivated oats" in Latin. Either the grain alone or the grain and the grass (the straw) are nourishing. So basically, we are using the rest of the oat plant that isn’t in the bulk food bin at your co-op or in your Quaker Oats container.
Oatstraw goes right to the heart. It helps clear blood vessels and fatty deposits and eases the beat of your heart. Oatstraw also helps tighten and re-elasticize your veins, so it is helpful in varicose veins and hemorrhoids. Oatstraw lowers cholesterol and tones the heart. Love potion! That oats improve your sexual appetite, and this has been sung about throughout the centuries.

Nettle Infusion

1 oz Nettle approx 1 ½ cups.
Put dry herb into a quart canning jar wide mouth.
Pour boiling water over dried nettle, let set to infuse for min. 4 to 6 hours to overnight. I always leave it out on my counter over night. In morning strain out herbs and drink. Place in fridge for up to 2 days. Drink daily or every other day alternating between Oat Straw and Nettle if you like,

Its leaves are packed with vitamins and minerals and they are a great source of protein.
Nettle is nutrient rich: an excellent source of minerals, vitamins and amino acids (protein building blocks). It's very high in calcium, magnesium, trace minerals and chlorophyll. Nettle is also high in chromium, cobalt, iron, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper and sulfur, as well as the B complexes, especially thiamine and riboflavin. It supplies niacin, protein, selenium, ascorbic acid (C complex) and vitamins D and K. Nettle, like spinach, is an excellent fortifier for children. What's not to like? Ability to nourish and restore.

HERBALPEDIA - NETTLES
Properties: astringent, diuretic, tonic, nutritive, stops bleeding, circulatory stimulant, promotes milk flow, lowers blood sugar levels, prevents scurvy.

Meridians/Organs affected: small intestines, bladder, lungs

Medicinal Uses: Nettle leaves are a blood builder often used as a spring tonic and to treat anemia and poor circulation. They contain both iron and vitamin C, which aids iron absorption. In the past, nettle was eaten or sipped to reduce uric acid and to treat gout and arthritis. It encouraged mother’s milk, lowers blood sugar and decreases profuse menstruation. It acts as a light laxative and diuretic (possibly due to its flavonoids and high potassium content). Both a tea and a poultice of cooked nettles are used to treat eczema and other skin conditions (combines well with figwort and burdock). An astringent that stops bleeding, the powder is snuffed to stop nosebleeds. Curled dock leaves provide a remedy for the nettle’s sting and the fresh juice of nettles themselves relieves the sting as well.

I have bought my dry herb from Mountainrose Herbs.

Tell us about yourself : I’m a widow; I lost my spouse April 16, 1999 to a broken heart and Cancer. He was a Native American. I have lived on his Reservation in California for 37 years. We were married 23 years. We had two children, lost one to a drunk driver in 97 before my spouse died. I started my spiritual journey when son passed; but woke up to spirituality abruptly June 2009 when I had an event reading by James Van Praagh and he brought through eight deceased relatives. I would love to be a medium in the future, and share that spiritual connection with those who have lost. I take photos of spirits in clouds. One of my favorite spirit photographs at night is an apparition of a Native American Male.

Deb sounds great I'm going to try it. I wish I saw this before I went to the heath food store today, I would have bought the herbs then.

BTW, I called you but it went to voice mail about 1/2 hour ago. You didn't change your number when you got the new phone did you?

I have the same phone Taurus. ending in 0238.

I was at my daughter's when you called. Had to make her dinner. Looked like you called twice. I called you back but it was 9pm my time.

I am taking my daughter to JoAnne's fabric at 2pm (1/2 hr) so that she can pick out fabric for me to sew baby's cradle quilt and bumper pad. I was over there this am, was going to make them all breakfast but they were still sleeping. Send me a photo by email so I can do what we spoke of before for our friend.......... I'll explain later if it's not clear.

Check out mountain rose first and see what type they are and price.
Personally I wouldn't buy at a health food store. I only buy organic. Not all health food stores have quality herbs.

Have to run.
