Being Yourself?

Post by NICE on October 1st 2010, 6:50 am

Hi All

What does being yourself mean and entail?

Also Is It possible to be yourself If you are unaware of who you are?

Re: Being Yourself?

I don't have all the answers, but i did realize something today that i had not noticed before. My girlfriend said she finds alot of Joy & Inspiration in the movie "Ghost" with Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze, Whoopi Goldberg, and alot of other actors which i do not know their names. So the first thing i said was, theres something about Demi Moore that doesn't seem to fit, thats when i stopped myself, and asked the question why did i say that. I Contemplated this questions, and realized that was not the real me speaking, it was like that cartoon where you have the Angel on one shoulder and a Little Devil on the other. I came to this realization that it was the wrong voice that i was Listening to, it was not my Spirit. It was meant to hurt her not to Inspire her further. Being myself is when i am kind, i listen, and Lift others up, that is the real me, thats when i am being myself.

From my experiences, when i was unaware of the real me, instead the real me that i thought i was, was actually not the real me. There was no mistaking the real me when i became aware of the False me.

Many Blessings

It can be very hard at times when, we are influenced by so many others, and we find ourselves going along with the flow of everyone else, maybe for the sake of keeping the peace or pleasing someone etc, I believe we have to take time to distance ourselves and allow our self to flow naturally using our own instincts, with no one else changing or influencing our mind or choices, baring in mind our first instinct is usually the right one. Then and only then, we are being our true self.

Well Said Vanilla2

If one is centered and Focused, being Instinctive & Intuitive, may actually come much easier. Rather than when one is Unaware & Less Focused. For instance, when i've taken medication before that is not mine, for what ever reason i thought i needed, when i really did not. I usually become more critical of the world and don't see clear at all for several days after. From what i wrote above, i should have specified that when this situation happened, i had taken medication, which i did not need, and my attitude changes, and i tend to be False. But if one is Center & Focused i feel they are much Happier, Calmer, Loving, Kind, & Make much better Decisions.

As for the Medication, i found out that it is not helping me to grow Spiritually, so i am doing my best to Refrain from taking anymore. I would really Love to be a Better person and that means, giving up the things that keep me from that Goal.

Many Blessings

From Medication to Meditation, ........................hmmmmmm, I could write a book called that.

I was there.....
I understand it.......

11 Rules of Spiritual Growing by St. Germain
1) Love God Above All Else
2)Use your time to develop your soul
3) Be completely unselfish
4) Be SOBER, humble, active and silent
5) Learn the origins of the metals inside you
6) Beware of Charlatans and Liars
7) Constantly revere the highest good
8) Learn the Theory before you try the practice
9) Practice charity towards all beings
10) Read the ancient books of wisdom ; update ......Read the great current books of Wisdom! suggested authors: Guy Finley, Manly P Hall, Edgar Cayce, Vernon Howard, Eckhart Tolle, Carl Jung, Gerald Jampolsky, Deepak Chopra, Dr. Wayne Dyer
11) Strive to understand their secret meaning (What the words POINT too and not the words themselves)

Nervous tension is created by he demands of our 24/7 world. Herbs can help relieve and strengthen our nerves. Here are a few which are of great aid along the way:
Lemon Balm
Feverfew
Horsetail (rich in trace metals)
Valerian Root
Passion Flower
Skullcap

There Is truth In this "Spirit - Being" - In a way It's like saying I have to Know what I am not - In order to know who I am.

Hi Vanilla

Yes Influence of all that Is not who we are will distract us from who we are,

And Yes I would agree Instinct / Intuition will always bring us back In line (lol)

I take the Valerian in capsules......

and.......

I once brewed catnip in boiling olive oil, that stunk worse then a skunk and nothing has ever been stinky to me since!

That was an amazing experiment in mosquito repellents. So effective I was able to chase mosquitoes while wearing it, lol~

It only had one drawback........

It repelled everything and everyone. I think even the skunks ran from me that day. I remember the day too, it was 6-21-08......

The sun was rising and the moon was setting,
A cloud formed overhead and a misty drizzle came down........
Half a rainbow formed in the west.....
I chuckled and thought "Where is the other half of the rainbow?"

Later that night the sun was setting,
a cloud formed overhead and a misty drizzle baptized me again!

In the east......

The other half of the rainbow!

I laughed.....I think I am still laughing.

There you go Sparrowhawk, a day you will always remember, Very Happy guess we've all done some silly things in our life, but what fun to remember the day, the time it happened, even what the weather was like on that day, and so on, and to smile, laugh and reminisce as though it happened only yesterday. One of the pleasures in our somewhat hectic, complicated and troubled lives.

Today.....

A bird refuge walk....

I came across a resting deer less than 10 feet away....

She didn't even bother getting up....

That is another first!

Then 3 wild turkeys......

Make that 4 wild turkeys....

I here more footsteps in the leaves,

5 turkeys!

"What is better then 5 wild turkeys?" I thought......

"6 wild turkeys!" answered the fox as I spotted another......

They even gobbled for me.....
